public art & murals

Sure…you could blow up some photos and print them on canvas at Boots…or maybe you should hang up that piece of mass produced art you found online. The only trouble is, they look totally lost on that big white wall…..and you’re already bored of looking at it.

What you really need is a great BIG piece of commissioned art painted directly onto that wall. I am just the person to help bring your idea to life.

reasons to commission a mural

  • they turn boring blank walls into beautiful works of art

  • a mural adds energy and a sense of place to a space

  • murals fit in so much more than a photo creating an interesting piece of art that never dulls

  • whether for your home or business a mural can be as personal or broad reaching as you need

  • they can go almost anywhere, a building fascia, concrete, fence, hoarding, ceiling, van, toilet cubicle….anywhere!

  • your friends will say “hey…cool mural” and you’ll be like “yeh I know”

testimonial

“Severn Arts commissioned Emily Kaye Illustration to create a bespoke 12 metre long outdoor mural as part of a new Urgent and Emergency Care Department at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. The main aim of the project was to enhance the look and feel of the clinical environment to promote a calm and attractive space where patients would feel less anxious, more cooperative and better able to engage in their ongoing care. It had to be inclusive, reflecting and celebrating the creativity and diversity of local communities as well as an artwork that would inspire and engage both staff and patients. Emily and her work stood out, not just because of the quality of her work, but because of her approach to working with people and her inclusive manner.

The timeframe for the project was incredible tight but Emily gave us a specific timetable outlining when different elements of her design would be completed so that we could put time aside to review it. Emily was really flexible in her approach whilst not losing her artistic integrity. She was very open to all our feedback, wanting to ensure we were happy with the design. She kept us informed throughout the process and if we were faced with a problem, she was quick to find a solution.

The mural has bought a dull, empty space to life and brings a smile to many faces as they come across it. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with Emily again and would recommend her for future projects.”
